Emerging from the late 1970s and early 1980s post-punk scene, they combined angular rhythms with soulful vocals and dancefloor sensibilities. Over decades the group explored remix culture and collaborations, moving fluidly between club-friendly grooves and experimental textures. Their work has been influential on alternative dance and indie electronic artists.

Twenty Seven Forever is the 1991 single that showcases the band's affinity for remix culture and club edits. This release collects a seven-inch edit, a vocal remix, an instrumental dub and the Higher Plane edit, featuring Denise Johnson on vocals and contributions from Liam Mullen on Rhodes and big organ. Stephen Morris provides edits on track four, underlining the single's connection to Manchester's wider post-punk and electronic community. The recordings are written and produced by A Certain Ratio and published by Virgin Music.

Tracklist

1
Twenty Seven Forever Seven Inch

2
Twenty Seven Forever Vocal Remix

3
Twenty Seven Forever Instrumental Dub

4
Twenty Seven Forever Higher Plane Edit

For CD Player
