The finished products are strikingly beautiful. This exhibition of skill and dedication is remarkable, making it somewhat frustrating that American Restoration tends to exaggerate by hinting at daunting deadlines or bizarre, insurmountable challenges—truthfully, Rick essentially repeats a similar process with the occasional new technique thrown in. The craftsmanship alone is satisfying enough; there’s no necessity to embellish it into an exaggerated tour de force, except that reality television seems to thrive on artificially created drama.
