The partnership brings together Badmarsh as a DJ and producer and Shri as a multi-instrumentalist and percussionist, creating a distinctive fusion sound that draws on tabla, dhol and other traditional elements. Their work sits at the crossroads of dance music, world music and club-oriented electronica, often balancing rhythmic complexity with accessible grooves. Over time they became associated with the Asian Underground movement, gaining attention for their vibrant cross-cultural approach.

Dancing Drums is a full length example of the duo's approach, pairing heavy rhythmic arrangements with electronic textures. The album features tracks such as "Dancing Drums", "The Asian Detective" and "Gharana", moving between energetic club pieces and more reflective downtempo moments. Produced for the late 1990s South Asian electronic scene and released through Tommy Boy/Outcaste, the record highlights live percussion elements alongside programming and bass-driven production. It stands as a strong representation of the duo's ability to fuse traditional instrumentation with modern electronic styles.

Label: Tommy Boy Music / Outcaste
© 1999 Tommy Boy Music.
