He writes, performs, and produces his own material, building songs with a hands-on approach to arrangement and sound design. His work blends melodic hooks with playful, often surreal imagery that is reflected in both music and visual presentation. Brillstein works with mixers and mastering engineers to shape a polished but idiosyncratic aesthetic.

Back To Bed is a six track release issued on Play It Down in 2014 that showcases Brillstein and his fondness for concise, beat-centric compositions. The record pairs warm, groove-driven production with quirky song titles and a distinctive cartoon cover by Todd James. It was mixed by Jan Driver and mastered at Alchemy Mastering, emphasizing clarity and low-end presence. The collection reads like an intimate snapshot of studio explorations, balancing melody and rhythmic experimentation.

All tracks written, performed, and produced by Mike Brillstein.
