The project brought together a mixture of up-and-coming MCs and established beatmakers to capture the dusty, sample-driven sound of mid-1990s East Coast hip hop. Contributors associated with the D&D circle include DJ Premier, Diamond D, Guru, The 45 King, KRS-One and the Beatminerz, among others. The group and its recordings are known for tight drum loops, gritty samples and prominent turntablism that define the boom-bap aesthetic.

This release, The D&D Project, is a 1995 Arista compilation that showcases tracks recorded and mixed at D&D Studios. It functions as both a producer showcase and a compilation of street-level tracks by artists such as Big Jaz, Ill Breed, Juice and Maniac Mob. Heavyweight production credits give the album a cohesive East Coast sonic palette, making it a snapshot of mid-90s New York hip hop. The collection highlights the studio as a creative meeting place for MCs, producers and DJs during hip hop's golden era.

Recorded and Mixed at D&D Studios, Inc., New York City.

Executive Producers: Hosh Gureli, David Lotwin & Douglas Grama for D&D Productions.

Arista Records.

Tracklist

1.
Pass It - D&D All-Stars - 4:54

2.
Look Alive - Big C - 3:18

3.
Act Up - Ill Breed - 4:25

4.
Da Good Die Young - N-Tense - 5:17

5.
Stone to the Bone - Big Jaz - 4:08

6.
From Within Out - Fabidden Frut - 3:50

7.
Get Up - Maniac Mob - 5:13

8.
Just A Little Flava - Unorthodox - 4:39

9.
Blowin' Up the Spot - Ill Will - 3:46

10.
Rude Boy - Night Dwellers - 4:19

11.
Nine Inches Hard - Juice - 4:59

12.
Mental Illness - Mental - 3:58

For CD Player
