The project is built around crate-digging, turntablism and studio production, blending jazz, hip-hop and breakbeat influences into concise DJ-friendly edits. Over the years DJ Food has released a series of Jazz Brakes compilations that collate rare grooves and rhythm-driven excerpts for producers and DJs. The output sits at the intersection of experimental electronic production and classic breakbeat culture.

Jazz Brakes Vol. 4 compiles twenty tracks of breakbeat and jazz-inflected grooves designed for use in DJ sets and production. Produced with input from Coldcut and released on the Zen imprint with Ninja Tune involvement, this volume includes BPM markings for each cut and focuses on short, sample-ready edits. The compilation continues the series tradition of providing tight, rhythm-focused material that bridges hip-hop, breakbeats and jazzy textures. It complements earlier Jazz Brakes volumes and is aimed at DJs, producers and listeners who appreciate sample-based, groove-oriented music.

Produced by Coldcut.
