The ensemble features prominent musicians including Yisrael Borochov along with guest players such as Amir Shahzar and Anushiruan Ruhani, creating a fluid interchange between bowed, plucked and percussive timbres. Their work often moves between composed frameworks and open improvisation, drawing on Persian, Ethiopian and Israeli musical idioms to form a distinctive hybrid sound. The group is noted for sensitive arrangements, virtuosic soloing and a deep engagement with regional musical traditions.

Imaginary Ritual captures the ensemble’s cross-cultural explorations in studio recordings and composed pieces that evoke ritual, folklore and cinematic atmosphere. The album mixes shorter melodic pieces with extended compositions, including a homage to Ravel and arrangements that traverse Ethiopian, Persian and Levantine borders. Listeners can expect layered textures, modal melodies, and rhythmic interplay that highlight both ancient sonic gestures and contemporary compositional concerns. This release showcases the group’s ability to bridge traditions while offering fresh, evocative ensemble music.

P & C Yisrael Borochov.
