The collection showcases a wide range of approaches to atmosphere and rhythm, from minimal ambient pieces to beat driven IDM. Many of the contributing artists were active in the 1990s electronic underground and this release collects standout tracks that highlight textural sound design and immersive production. The compilation presents a snapshot of the era when ambient, downtempo and experimental electronic cross pollinated in inventive ways. This two disc package brings together artists such as Woob, Thomas Köner, Gas, Bad Data and others across a program that moves between cinematic ambience and more propulsive electronic compositions. The sequencing emphasizes mood and contrast, allowing quieter, meditative tracks to sit alongside more rhythmic, club adjacent material. The physical release includes full track credits and running times across both discs, making it useful both as a listening experience and as a document of the label’s aesthetic at the time. Em:it 2000 is presented as a definitive Instinct Records compilation for listeners interested in late 90s electronic exploration.

All tracks licensed courtesy of time recording ltd.
