He attended the University of California at Santa Barbara where he studied Fine Art and Painting. Eager to focus on design, he then attended Art Center College of Design as an Industrial Design major focusing on entertainment design. Clyne began his professional career designing creatures, characters and environments for gaming companies such as Sega, Activision and Pulse Entertainment. Wanting to expand his work in entertainment design further, James worked on Terry Gilliam's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas conceptualizing props and sets. Since then, clients have included ILM, Warner Brothers, Universal, 20th Century Fox, Sony, Dreamworks Studios, Digital Domain and Rhythm and Hues. James has worked on numerous film projects including A.I.: Artificial Intelligence, Minority Report, The Polar Express, Troy, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, War of the Worlds, X-Men 3, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Transformers and James Cameron's Avatar.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOverview\u003cbr\u003eIn this educational DVD, James explores the crucial first steps in the creation of powerful design ideation and quick environment layout techniques.
