She became an icon in the late 1970s and early 1980s for a striking, androgynous visual image and a commanding contralto voice that stood out against contemporary pop vocalists. Jones worked with top session musicians and producers to fuse reggae rhythms with electronic and rock influences, creating a sound that was both club-friendly and artful. Her collaborations with producers such as Chris Blackwell and Alex Sadkin and the rhythm team Sly & Robbie helped shape a distinctive sonic identity that influenced many artists across genres.

Nightclubbing is widely regarded as one of Grace Jones’s defining records and a milestone of early 1980s cross-genre experimentation. Originally released in 1981, the album mixes dub and reggae foundations with new wave production and adventurous song choices, from reinterpretations to original material. Standout tracks on the record include "Pull Up The Bumper", "Nightclubbing" and "I've Seen That Face Before (Libertango)", all of which showcase Jones' cool vocal delivery and the record’s atmospheric arrangements. This 2004 remaster edition presents the album with refreshed audio quality while preserving the eerie, nightclub-ready ambience that made the original so influential.

2004 Japanese remaster edition.
