The trio, later known as IMx, became known for their tight vocal arrangements, choreographed performances and songs that spoke to teenage life and romance. Over the years the group worked closely with producer and manager Chris Stokes and developed a steady fanbase through soundtrack appearances and R&B radio exposure. Their music mixes contemporary R&B, pop hooks and New Jack Swing influences, presented through polished production and youthful charisma.

The Journey, released on MCA Records in 1997, captures Immature at a more mature musical point while still speaking to their core teen audience. The album features mid-tempo grooves, ballads and uptempo R&B numbers that showcase the members' vocal growth and tighter production choices. Tracks such as "Don't Ever Say Never" and "24/7" highlight both romantic themes and radio-ready hooks. The Journey balances pop accessibility with urban R&B sensibilities, making it a defining release in their catalog.

Executive Producers: Chris Stokes, Madeline Randolph, Ken Wilson, Wanda Stokes-Withers, and Ketrina 'Taz' Askew.

© 1997 MCA Records.
