This was a key moment in our lives. We were born in the U.S., most of us to parents who fled Hungary after the 1956 revolution. Some had never been to Hungary, and some did not speak Hungarian very well. But in 1984, Soviet troops were still stationed in Hungary and our parents either could not — or just would not — go back.

In the meantime, we became American-Hungarians, with emphasis on the Hungarian. Over the decades, we developed a double identity that was further complicated when many of us moved "back" to Hungary after the democratic transition. Now everyone asks me, where is home? The story continues in the summer of 2009, when we meet again near Yosemite Valley to perform Stephen, the King for the first time in 25 years. This will be either embarrassing or cathartic — or maybe both. But one thing is certain: I would not miss it for the world.

Credits
Documentary Feature, 84 minutes (USA/Hungary, 2009)
Director: RÉKA PIGNICZKY
Producers: Barnabás Gerö, RÉKA PIGNICZKY
Camera: Gergő Kiss
Editor: László Hargittai
Music: Gáspár Horváth and Boldizsár
Story Editor: Zsuzsanna Geller-Varga
Line Producer (USA): Endre Szentkirályi
Produced by: 56FILMS
Supported by: Hungarian Public Film Foundation, Hungarian Historical Film Foundation, Ministry of Culture and Education

For DVD Player (North American NTSC)
