She began playing guitar at 14 and, as a teenager, started recording at a friend's studio. Her musical influences range from post-punk and alternative acts like The Cure and Joy Division to singer-songwriters such as Tracy Chapman and Joni Mitchell. After moving to New York to attend NYU, Leona built a reputation performing at local venues and developing intimate, lyrically focused songs that combine delicate melodic sense with an alternative edge.

Comatised is Leona Naess's debut collection that showcases her subtle, almost avant-folk sound. Produced by Tommy D and Scott Litt, the recordings blend rough guitars, pop horns, gentle piano and rhythmic loops beneath Leona's graceful, airy vocals. The material highlights both delicate acoustic moments and fuller, horn-tinged arrangements, giving a varied preview of the full album. This advance sampler presents three tracks that point toward the mood and production of the forthcoming album.

Written by Leona Naess
Produced by Tommy D
*Additional Production and Engineering by Scott Litt
*Mixed by Tom Lord-Alge

Front cover photo by Steven Klein

COMATISED will be released in February 2000.

Tracklist

1.
Charm Attack*
Leona Naess

2.
Anything
Leona Naess

3.
Comatised
Leona Naess

For CD Player
