Renowned for his lush orchestral textures and inventive use of percussion, Baxter crafted atmospheric instrumental suites that evoked distant locales and cinematic moods. He worked with choruses and orchestras to blend traditional orchestration with novel percussion timbres, helping to create a distinctive musical palette that influenced later generations of easy listening and exotica artists. Throughout his career Baxter demonstrated a deft sense of melody and color, often spotlighting rhythmic elements and unusual instrumentation to conjure evocative soundscapes.

This compilation collects two of Baxter's percussion-heavy LPs, bringing together the albums Tamboo and Skins on a single CD with bonus tracks. The set highlights his rhythmic experiments and bongo-driven arrangements, featuring tracks that range from tropical atmospheres to energetic drum showcases. Originally issued as separate long-players, these selections emphasize Baxter's role as an arranger who could make percussion the focal point while still maintaining melodic richness. The collection is ideal for listeners who appreciate vintage exotica, Latin-flavored percussion, and the mid-century lounge aesthetic.

Original 2 LPs on 1 CD — Plus 3 Bonus Tracks.
