Led by the emotive, high-voiced delivery of Little Anthony (Anthony Gourdine), the group combined close-knit harmonies, dramatic balladry and upbeat doo-wop numbers. Their recordings bridged rhythm & blues and pop, giving them crossover success and a catalog of songs that became standards for vocal groups. Over decades they influenced soul and pop vocal arranging and remain celebrated for the expressive lead vocal performances and polished ensemble sound.

This compilation, Over The Rainbow, collects a selection of the group's recordings — from tender ballads to energetic rhythm numbers. It features well-known tracks such as Tears On My Pillow and Shimmy Shimmy Ko Ko Bop alongside standards and lesser-known gems, showcasing both the group's vocal range and their blend of heartfelt phrasing and upbeat swing. Compiled in 1997, the release highlights the contrast between the delicate ballad work and the lively doo-wop arrangements that made Little Anthony & The Imperials influential. The album functions as an accessible overview for new listeners while offering a concise set of favorites for longtime fans.

Compilation ©1997 KRB Music Companies.
