Trained in both historical performance practice and folk repertoire, she became known for her clear, expressive soprano and deep commitment to preserving regional song traditions. Figueras frequently collaborated with leading early music ensembles and scholars to reconstruct and perform material from medieval and Renaissance sources. Her work bridged scholarship and performance, bringing ancient Catalan songs to modern audiences with authenticity and warmth.

This collection, Cançons de la Catalunya mil·lenària: Planys & Llegendes, gathers cradle songs, laments and legendary narratives from Catalonia, arranged and interpreted in a historically informed style. Accompanied by La Capella Reial de Catalunya and the ensembles Hespèrion XX & XXI under Jordi Savall, the recordings mix vocal nuance with period instrumentation. The program emphasizes storytelling through music, pairing short instrumental interludes with sung ballads and ceremonial pieces. The result is a meditative, richly textured album that showcases Figueras' sensitivity to phrasing and the evocative power of Catalan traditional repertoire.

Performers: Montserrat Figueras; La Capella Reial de Catalunya; Hespèrion XX & XXI; Jordi Savall.
