The core trio of Beth Gibbons, Geoff Barrow and Adrian Utley developed a distinctive, cinematic sound that fused hip hop beats, vintage sampling, jazz inflections and melancholic vocals. Their music is noted for its moody atmospheres, sparse production and dramatic arrangements, with Gibbons delivering emotionally raw, intimate performances. Portishead are widely credited as pioneers of the trip hop movement and have influenced many artists across alternative and electronic scenes.

Dummy is the band’s debut album and a landmark trip hop release. The record features atmospheric, sample-driven production and memorable songs such as "NUMB", "SOUR TIMES" and "WANDERING STAR", showcasing haunting melodies and cinematic textures. Produced with Adrian Utley, the album balances tension and beauty through careful use of space, strings and subtle beats. This pressing reflects the original era of the release and captures the deep, brooding sonic character that defined the record.

Produced by Portishead with Adrian Utley.
All songs published by Chrysalis Music Ltd.
Made in Germany.

Tracklist

1.
NUMB
3:55

2.
SOUR TIMES
5:52

3.
WANDERING STAR
4:46

4.
INTERLUDE
2:26

For CD Player

Go!
