His work blends classic soul phrasing with contemporary production sensibilities of the era, creating songs that emphasize melody and emotional delivery. Salter was associated with prominent R&B producers and labels during his early career, and his recordings reflect the polished studio approach typical of major label R&B from the decade. Listeners familiar with 90s urban radio will recognize his emphasis on vocal nuance and intimate storytelling in song.

This release, After 12, Before 6, captures a promotional single treatment with multiple versions for airplay and production use. The package includes a radio edit, an instrumental version, and an acappella, showcasing both the song and its production elements. The single highlights the lush arrangements and late night mood that complement Salter's voice, and the instrumental and acappella tracks make it useful for DJs and remixers. As a LaFace Records release from 1997, it sits in the catalog of contemporary R&B singles aimed at both radio and club play.

Produced by Tricky for Red Zone Entertainment.
