K Records has long championed lo-fi, experimental and DIY artists, and compilations on the label showcase a wide range of sounds from melodic indie rock to dub-tinged experiments. The performers assembled here range from established alternative names to local and experimental acts, giving a snapshot of the label’s aesthetic in the late 1990s. The compilation format highlights the community ethos of K Records, where diverse voices and approaches are presented side by side.

Selector Dub Narcotic is a curated compilation that blends dub influences with indie and experimental rock, featuring contributions from the label and friends. This release collects tracks by artists such as Beck, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Miranda July, Old Time Relijun and others alongside Dub Narcotic Sound System’s selector pieces. As a promotional CD issued in 1998 it showcases both standalone songs and interstitial dub selector tracks that give the album a loose, mixtape-like flow. The compilation serves as both an introduction to K Records’ roster and a document of the label’s collaborative, genre-blurring approach in that period.

For promotional use.
