Lead single “Tongue Song” only got to No. 30 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales chart, the follow-up “Raise It Up” didn’t chart at all, and Epic did little to promote either one. Epic never gave the album a retail release, and the only copies pressed were a few promo CDs. The Listening Post Edition is one of those promos (Epic ESK 12719), which is why collectors chase it.

Album Features

Title:
Strings: The Black Widow: Listening Post Edition

Record Label:
Epic Records / Sony Music Entertainment

Release Year:
2000

Cat No:
ESK 12719

Country:
US

Genre:
R&B / Hip Hop

Style:
Contemporary R&B, Hip Hop, Rap

Strings is a female R&B vocalist who emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s with a confident, sultry delivery. Her sound blends classic soul phrasing with contemporary urban production and strong hip hop influences. She frequently collaborates with prominent producers and guest rappers which gives her recordings a streetwise edge while keeping strong melodic hooks. The artist presents a persona that balances toughness and seduction across vocal performance and arrangement.

The Black Widow (Listening Post Edition) sits squarely at the intersection of R&B and hip hop and highlights that hybrid approach. The release features guest appearances from Swizz Beatz, Juvenile, Drag-On and Infamous Syndicate and production from Steve 'Stone' Huff and others, giving the album a mix of polished slow jams and harder edged tracks. Tracks range from short interludes to full collaborations that showcase both vocal performance and rap features. Released on Epic/Sony in 2000, the set reflects the era sound with crisp beats, layered harmonies and streetwise guest spots.

Produced by Steve 'Stone' Huff for Stone Productions.
