Their music blends jagged, dissonant guitar work with terse, propulsive rhythms and a visceral vocal delivery, creating an intense noise-rock and post-hardcore sound. Known for ferocious live performances and a refusal to conform to mainstream trends, the band earned a dedicated following among college radio and alternative rock audiences. Over the years they have been praised for their uncompromising approach and the stark power of their recordings.

Shot is The Jesus Lizard's fifth studio LP and marks the band's major-label debut on Capitol Records. Recorded with producer GGGarth Richardson in Chicago in the fall of 1995, the album was issued in 1996 and showcases a tighter, more produced take on the band's trademark aggression without sacrificing raw intensity. The record balances abrasive, noisy moments with instances of surprising musical detail and structural complexity that broaden the band's sonic palette. Tracks like 'Thumper', 'Blue Shot' and 'Pervertedly Slow' demonstrate both the group's ferocity and its evolving sense of arrangement.

Produced by GGGarth and The Jesus Lizard.

Recorded by GGGarth Richardson in Chicago, Illinois, fall 1995.

Street date: April 16, 1996.

Cat No: CDP-36778.

Tracklist

1.
Thumper
3:37

2.
Blue Shot
4:13

3.
Thumbscrews
3:09

4.
Good Riddance
3:15

5.
Mailman
3:27

6.
Skull Of A German
3:42

7.
Trephination
3:33

8.
More Beautiful Than Barbie
2:48

9.
Too Bad About The Fire
4:01

10.
Churl
2:52

11.
Now Then
2:33

12.
Inamorata
3:04

13.
Pervertedly Slow
2:40

For CD Player
