Formed to celebrate early twentieth century jazz traditions, the group blends brass-driven arrangements, upbeat two-beat rhythms, and close ensemble interplay. Their sound emphasizes collective improvisation and a joyful, church-hall atmosphere that lends itself naturally to sacred songs reimagined in a dixieland context. The band frequently features guest vocalists and soloists, bringing a mix of instrumental and sung performances to their recordings. Dixieland Hymns III collects eighteen traditional hymns and spirituals arranged in a lively dixieland style, drawing on familiar melodies like 'Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jericho', 'Amazing Grace', and 'Battle Hymn Of The Republic'. The album includes vocal contributions and spoken readings by members and guests (notably Dick Doner, Paul Reid, and Chet Jaeger) alongside instrumental tracks. Recorded and released on NBJ Records, the release showcases tight horn arrangements and accessible tempos suitable for both traditional jazz listeners and fans of gospel hymnody. Track selections range from short, brisk arrangements to more expansive readings, offering a varied listening experience rooted in American sacred music.

Vocalists and contributors on the album include Dick Doner, Paul Reid, Chet Jaeger and ensemble vocals credited as Dick & Band.
