He stood 6'5" and weighed around 310 pounds, and cited Ted Nugent and Bruce Springsteen among his influences. Willis' performances and recordings were unpolished, raw, and driven by blunt, repetitive guitar lines and stream-of-consciousness lyrics. His personality and backstory earned him media attention including MTV's The Week In Rock, 120 Minutes, and SQuiRT TV, and a well-attended appearance at South by Southwest.

Fabian Road Warrior, his American Recordings debut, compiles 24 short, confrontational rock tracks that mix humorous name-dropping and blunt social commentary. The recordings are intentionally rough and capture Wesley Willis' frank spoken/sung delivery and simple guitar arrangements, making it an uncompromising listen for fans of outsider rock. Songs range from rants and character vignettes to fast rockers that feel like jam sessions; track titles reference other bands and figures, underscoring his irreverent approach. This release showcases the raw energy and DIY aesthetic that defined Willis's catalog.

Recorded by Dale Meiners at Ghetto Love, Chicago, 1996. All songs ASCAP.
