He attended St. Pius V grade school and, upon graduation, went to the seminary, which included Prep South, Cardinal Glennon College and Kenrick Seminary. He was ordained in 1979 and has served in parishes all over the Archdiocese, from the inner city to North, West and South St. Louis County, and Jefferson, Franklin, and Ste. Genevieve Counties.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eFor fourteen years, Monsignor Mitas served as spiritual director to the Missionaries of Charity (Bd. Teresa of Calcutta's sisters), and he was the founder and head of the Archdiocesan Reclamations Project for 18 years. In 2008 Monsignor Mitas was named a chaplain to the Holy Father by Cardinal Burke. He currently serves as the pastor of St. Angela Merici Parish in Florissant, MO, after serving the past 13 years at Immaculate Conception Parish of Union, MO.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eMsgr.
