Billed as the world's most advanced fighter, the F-22 Lightning is the first and only fifth-generation air dominance fighter. With twin Pratt & Whitney F119-PW-100 35,000-pound-thrust engines that can reach supersonic operational speeds without afterburners, the F-22 is designed with the same state-of-the-art (c.1998) stealth technology as the B2 Stealth Bomber. As such, the fighter is not only built for speed and anti-radar capability but possesses the staggering power equivalency of two Cray supercomputers in giving the pilot unprecedented advantages in air combat situations.
In F-22 Lightning 3, the sequel to its immensely popular combat simulation predecessors (based on world-wide sales), the player takes the role of pilot in over 50 newly designed missions. At the very basic level, the simulation is geared more toward the serious and advanced student of flying simulations as nearly every single key on the keyboard is utilized to perform some action, in many cases more than one. The cockpit alone features nearly a dozen displays with another six head-up display (HUD) combat modes.
As for load-out capability, the F-22 armament arsenal accommodates three types of missiles (AIM-9M Sidewinder, AIM-120C AAMRAM and AGM-88 HARM), the M61A2 20mm Cannon and air-to-ground (bombs) weaponry including the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM), the BLU-109 and the B61 Tactical Thermonuclear Bomb. The fighter is also capable of mid-air refueling, ILS (instrument landing system) technology and a sophisticated approach steerpoint system to allow precision landing operations.
NovaLogic's NovaWorld Internet site accommodates up to 128 opponents in multi-player action. (It should be noted that certain versions of AOL do not support NovaWorld.) Multi-player comes in three main modes: Deathmatch, an all-or-nothing dogfight where only the most skilled flyer is left in the sky, RAW, with the objective centered on complete annihilation (bombing) of the opposing team's base, and Cooperative (an eight player maximum restriction applies), using specially designed missions from the game.

COMPATIBILITY:

We suggest going to Google and searching for the name of the game along with the words "system requirements" to determine if your system is suitable. PLATFORM:
Stated within the auction is what platform the game will work on (ie. Windows, Mac, Linux...) This is a generic statement and specific platform versions (ie. XP, Vista...) will have to be researched by the buyer. Games that came out PRIOR to XP or higher will not specifically state they will work on that release, but only because they came out before those versions were made. Many, if not most, will work on XP or higher with a few quick adjustments. We provide instructions with all items purchased on how to do this adjustment using the Program Compatibility Wizard. If we find out that an item will definately not work on a specific version, we will state it. For DOS games, you may need to play it with a free DOSbox program if the Program Compatibility Wizard does not work.
64-Bit Windows OS Systems:
For 64-bit Operating Systems, older games most likely will NOT work due to 64-bit systems not being able to run 16-bit programming code (most games prior to 2000). For DOS games, you may need to play it with a free DOSbox program.
Macintosh Systems:
For Macintosh programs, most older games will need to be run in Classic Environment if you have a MAC OS X 10.0 - 10.4 version. Please research Google on how to do this, or send us a message for information prior to purchasing. If your MAC OS system doesn't support Classic Environment (ie. MAC OS X 10.5 or Higher OR Intel Macs), you will have to try running it using the free program called SheepShaver, but compatibility is not ensured. Please research prior to purchasing or ask questions.
MEDIA FORMAT:
Please verify you have the required hardware in order to use the specified media (ie. CD, DVD, floppy drives, etc.) If the item comes as a floppy disc, make sure you have either the needed 3.5" floppy drive or the bigger and older 5.25" floppy drive.
